And just like that, we are mid-November!!! And that means another Sketch mini challenge over on the Mercy Tiara 27-day scrappy challenge FB group (link in top bar).
Here is this month’s sketch :
This fun sketch comes from Creative Scrappers Creating with Sketches Volume 4 by the very talented Kristine Davidson. You can purchase the e-book here : http://creativescrappers.bigcartel.com/ . I purchased the paper copy when it was first released but am not sure if that is still available. Kristine also announced this week that she will be publishing another “sketches only” E-book tomorrow. Hurray! Here is a link to her blogpost: https://creativescrappers.blogspot.ca/
If you recall last month, I stayed pretty close to the sketch I had chosen. Well, this month, I decided to really switch it Up and Around !!! I flipped the sketch on its side and turned it into an 8.5 X 11 layout :
Because of the smaller format, I also reduced the size of my photo, from 4X4 to 3X3. I left the title block where is was but moved the journaling to the right of the patterned paper strips and under the photo. I felt the page more balanced that way!
This was another of those fun layouts where I used scraps on my desk from the previous page, rather than tidy away LOL! This sketch is perfect for that.
This page is more about my love of gardening, and my first garden, in my first house in particular. The photo is a companion to the previous page I made and posted in the group yesterday. The photo is from 1991 and the journaling talks about how we lived in a townhouse, a middle unit. Every evening, when I got home from work I would walk straight through the house and out into my garden! A few deep breaths while admiring the beauty, and the day’s stress would melt away.
I have been working with my Secret not secret Kit Club October 2017 kit (my first with this awesome brand new kit club run by my friend Khristina Sorge). I will be back soon with a full blog post about it, but in the meantime, here is a link to her website https://www.redefinedkreative.com/ .
- I used scraps from the lovely floral paper – No. 2 from Turn the page, Abstract from Bohemian Dreams by Cocoa Vanilla, Keep your cool from Glitter Girl by Shimelle and the constellation paper from Stargazer by Dear Lizzy
- The cardstock is from Stampin’ Up
- Of course I used my beloved Fitzgerald font Thickers and some mini market alphas.
- Sharpie pens are currently my favourite journaling pens !
So there you have it! I hope you have time to play along with us this month. If you are not a member of the group, just hop on over there and request membership, mention this post and I will be sure to add you immediately 🙂 . I hope you are all having a lovely Sunday. Happy scrapping <3.
